Hairy Obesssions 5: Hairveda

I was planning to do a vlog of this review but I’m lazy and don’t want to. So I’m writing this one instead. I’ve got to do my “9 months natural” vlog at some point anyway.

Word of warning… It’s gonna be a long one…

So last week I got some Hairveda samples from Britishcurlies.co.uk.

Here’s what I got my hands on!

Sitrinillah – Deep Hair Conditioner
SitriNillah is perfect for conditioning and softening your hair after a protein treatment.” This means it’s perfect, if like me, you use “MegaTek”. Well I used it for a course of one month Sept/Nov, will probably go for another month in Jan.
Orange oil is gooood for your hair; I remember getting a free bottle of that essential oil when I ordered something elsewhere. And this has TONS of it. It smells very citrusy, but it’s nice.
Ingredients: Water, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycerin,Steryl Alcohol,Stearalkonium Chloride, Dimethyl Stearamine, Orange Oil, Orange Extract,Vanilla Extract,Lactic Acid, Phthalate Free Fragrance, Paraben Free Preservative.

Hairveda Whipped Creme Ends Hydration –Leave in conditioner

Whipped Cream is a 3 in1 Ends Hydration, Leave In & Moisturizer.
This was is said to be great as part of baggying, (shower capping wet hair after washing, whilst smothering it in yummy oils and conditioners – wash out after, or not depending on what you use) though I am not sure if it was this or the CoCasta Shikakai oil that made hair feel as soft as a feather.
Really does need a good shake, as it seems as though the oils separate.
Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Ricinus Communis ( Castor Oil), Sweet Almond Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter),Ceteryl Alcohol, Steryl Alcohol, Sunflower Oil, Allantoin, Isopropryl Palmitate, Emulsifying wax, Germall Plus, Light Fragrance.

Hairveda Whipped gelly – For bringing out curl pattern (kinda like KCCC[Kinky Curly Curling custard] but 2million times better)
“Whipped Gelly helps defines curls and waves for natural hair.”

I applied a little to my hair after I washed it (before it dried, and after the baggie) and made 5 VERY impressive ringlets! The site says “This product is great fro curly hair types and to smooth down edges. A great frizz tamer!” Dunno about the frizz taming, but I have 4A/4B type hair soo….

Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis ( Aloe) Juice, Acrylates/C-10 Alkl Acrylates ( for gel texture), Glycerin ( for moisture), Persea Gratissima ( Avocado) Seed Oil, Pthalate Free Fragrance. Preservate - Free.
Smells like Tropical Mango.

Hairveda Whipped Green Tea Butter – A hair and body oil (semi solid)
This is rich mix of Green Tea extract & Almond Oil. I used this before I washed my hair in case I didn’t like the feel/it was too heavy, but it was perfect. However, I’m not too fond of the smell. It’s quite sweet but lingers and smells kinda frousy after a while. I try to CoWash every other day, but using this I felt like I HAD to CoWash.

Ingredients: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Fragrance

Hairveda Moist Condition 24.7 – a daily leave in conditioner
This is good for daily conditioner washes (CoWashing).
It’s rich with oils but not so heavy as to weigh your hair down.
The website says it can also be used as a light moisturizer, but feels weird using it as one.

Ingredients: Water Coconut oil, Hydronated Vegetable oil, Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearalkonium Chloride, Dimethyl Stearamine, Lactic Acid, Germall Plus, Fragrance.

Hairveda CoCasta Shikakai oil – Multi-functioning hair/skin oil

It is said to promote healthy growth, soften, regulate sebum, strengthen, add shine & condition, which is a lot of things. Some sort of “Super oil”

“Our Liquid Gold is a medley of Nut Oils, with Henna, Amla, & Indian herbs that coat every strand of hair, protecting it from sun, wind, dust and pollution, giving your hair and scalp, nourishment and conditioning for long and lustrous, problem free hair.
According to Indian history, each ingredient we use is renowned for aiding in giving women soft beautiful locks! Use as a hot oil treatment, sealant for ends, scalp oil and more.”

If you’re not sold after that, you won’t be. I must say, I used it as part of my baggie after I washed my hair, and it did feel soft and fluffier than usual.

Ingredients: Ricinus Communis Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulsis, Acacia Concinna Oil, Bacopa Monniera Oil, Emblica Officianalis Fruit Oil, Azadirachta Indica Seed Oil, Fragrance

Hairveda Noinah Thai Butter 4oz – Hair and body butter
This is a Thai Apple Butter packed with botanical & fruit ingredients. Perfect after a super hot shower (yes, yes, super hot showers are bad yadda yadda…) Supposedly for hair too, but not putting it in mine. Feels AH –MAY-ZING on the skin, even my mum was impressed and she’s pretty picky about lotions and potions.

Ingredients: Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Helianthus Annus (Sunflower Seed Oil, Calendula Officialanls Flower Etract. Helian Thus Annus (Sunflower Extract Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Chanrus Crispus (Carageenan Extract) Althaea Officianalis Root Extract. Phthalate Free Fragrance.

Madagascan Vanilla – Hand made soap.

“A Sweet & smooth blend of Olive Oil soap with Vanilla fragrance of Zanzibar.”

Sweet & smooth blend of Olive Oil soap with Vanilla fragrance of Zanzibar.
I’m more of a “body wash” type person as I’m not to fond of the “streaky” feeling soap bars leave on me, (except for the Dove soap bars, they’re lurvely) I sort of don’t feel quite clean with a soap bar due to the residue. The Madagascan Vanilla unfortunately gives me that feeling too. Will be using it just not to waste it. 
The fella says it smells like Ethiopians, which is better than my initial thought of “incense.”

Ingredients: Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Organic Palm Oil, Soy Oil, Fresh Goat Milk, Sunflower Oil, Shea Butter, Phthalate Free Fragrance. May Also Contain natural Vitamin E & Stearic Acid (vegetable source).

Conclusion: Hairveda could very well become my staple. Hairveda's price points are from £1.75 - £7.00ish. are 100% natural and in some cases Organic (beware, they have a shelf life)

Growing obsession: JET

Hmph!

So the deadline has passed, I managed to get my application in nice n speedily and I feel pretty confident about it all round. My biggest problem now is forgetting about it. It doesn't help that I spend all day cruising the forums, or that people keep asking me about it, so I am going to have to take some hard core steps to get it out of my mind.

1. I have a Job, this should keep me busy... but alas, here I am, blogging... at work...

2. It's Christmas this month, so in about a week, I should be busying myself with wrapping and the like, i bought 80% of all the major pressies already so spending money wont help either.

3. Cata comes out on the 7th... but I have no motivation to play up til then, nor will I be buying the game the instant it comes out... poop :'(

4.Vlogs... yeah, I said it... VLOGS. There has been a fair amount of talk on VLoggers over the last few days and I want in on the action. Said vlogs will be about hair care of course, but even so, should keep my busy momentarily. How very
exciting! Oh speaking of which, I might do a "Hairveda" review, as i got their samples in a few days ago.... YAY ME!

5.Watch TV. I'm not a big TV fan, but a few series' have piqued my interest. Greys Anatomy (of course!) Fringe and Dexter. I'm considering Day Of Our Lives, as it was recommended...

Yeah apart from that I'm stumped.

Hair Obsessions 4

Upwards and onwards...!

Notable changes are I now use coconut oil on my hair, forum junkies seem to rate highly of it, I’ve been using it for a few weeks will note any changes. The bottle says it has a natural sweet smell, but I think it smells like burnt coconut hairs… not to my liking at ALL! The things we do for beauty!
Along side my Aphogee conditioner I have started to use Aussie Miracle hair Insurance Conditioner.

I don’t like the smell its kind of sickly but it either disappears or I get used to it once its dry anyway, makes my hair feel good so that’s all that counts really :)
I Went on holiday to Florida earlier this year and had an amazing time, I also got to buy some hair goodies that I cant buy in the shops over here in the UK. Namely the KCCC (Kinky Curly Curling Custard) trio – Come Clean, Knot Today and Curling Custard.

These smell absolutely fantastic! Now its probably just me not having enough time to dedicate to use it properly, but it didn’t really work for me. The BF kept complaining of my hair looking grey. I think I was going to cautiously with the COME CLEAN and not fully getting all of the previous oils out. And also the curls/coils weren’t doing what they’re supposed to after conditioner and gel, again, maybe because I wasn’t doing my hair section my section (it’s only like 2 inches long!) I was kinda just spreading it lightly over all my hair, then kinda massaging it through, as that’s what I’d seen on a video tutorial (¬_¬) But that being said, I used it on my 2 yr old cousins hair (he has mixed parentage) and it came out lovely. Guess I got to just take my time and do it to get fair results. Gah, there aren’t enough hours in the day!

Hairy Obsession 3

My Starters hair care regime

So this is what I had begun to use on my hair:
I made a glycerine mix (but I don’t like its sticky feel) made up of 50% glycerin, 50% purified water and a few drops of essential oils (Cedar wood, Peppermint, Tea tree and Eucalyptus)
I would co-wash every other day with Herbal Essence’s Hello Hydration conditioner, it smells amazing, made me want to eat my head:

I would daily condition with Aphogee Pure Vitamin Leave in Conditioner, spray n go! Has a fruity plastic smell, but its still quite pleasant: (why do I smell everything…)

I’d seal the ends with natural A or B grade Shea Butter. (the yellower the better!) lovely on the body – especially the face. Non-greasy It’s quite thick so either keep it in a warm place, or be prepared to warm it up before use! According to my mum this smells like frozen peas. But it is VERY subtle, so I wouldn’t worry to much about it.

Then monthly wash with Elasta QP Créme Conditioning Shampoo, and DEEP condition fort nightly with Intense Fortifying Hair Conditioner, PHEW!
(looks like the shampoo bottle but just says conditioner instead of shampoo. Its great and smells like banana – Sorry seems like I DO have to smell everything!)

This process too me quite nicely through my first 3 months. And is still the basic structure to my daily/weekly/monthly regime.

Hairy Obsession 2

So what next?

I thought the best option would be to continue with a protective style, the problem was which one? My hair dresser suggested kinky twist extensions, but I’m no good with single plaits, I miss my hair too much. I’m one of those people who like to scratch their head or comb their hair at their own free will. Due to this single plaits rarely last 3 weeks +/– such a waste of time and money IMO. I could go for a weave, but my hairline doesn’t like those very much (that being said my hair line likes my eyebrows a lil tooo much...), and also the same reason mentioned before puts me off. That leaves me with two options. Full head wig or a half wig (which, correct me if I am wrong, I’m assuming is like instant weave…?). I have no problem with wearing a wig, only that I don’t want it to look like a wig, and as for a half wig I have no idea how that would work with my 1 inch hair!?

In the end I gave up on the protective styles and went straight for the TWA! I had to accessorize and beautify myself to help enhance the features my TWA brings out.

The last step was the final shape up, which made the hair even shorter. But at least it was somewhat shapelier. I hate what she has did with my hair-line though, It was all… rounded… she shaved off my side burns and widows peak TT_TT so no doubt I looked really strange…
Right so the BF finally saw my hair, (it was hiding) day 1 was silence, then I think he must have gotten pretty used to it. Apparently I looked like a pixie. (my 5ft 7 frame was obviously that of a pixie!) All was well!

Hairy Obsession 1

Here begins the tales of my natural progression for yummy hair....

So, in Oct 09 I decided I wanted a gorgeous, lush, full and thick head of hair. At the time I was relaxing my hair every 6 weeks, and it was becoming thinner and thinner each time. Not to mention the insane the relaxer would always leave a series of burns... My hair was sad, so I made the decision to stop relaxing; every so often I made this same decision, but it was generally due to funds being low, or not being able to get a hair dresser, resulting in me going three months without getting a relaxer, but I always went and had it relaxed. But not this time, this time it was for read, this time, it was going to be… FOREVER!

So off I skipped quite merrily to my hair dresser sometime in the middle of Feb. I had figured 4 months of re growth would have been sufficient to get the ends chopped and be merrily on my way. This was not the case. My hair dresser said “no” she instead gave me a weave to grow it out.
A week later though I became frustrated, I couldn’t get to my hair due the weave, and I just wanted to cut it off, along with those horrid relaxed ends of mine once and for all – so I did. My hairdresser was suddenly quite keen, and began bragging about how she “turns all of her clients natural” I giggled along with her, not wanting to say I was doing it because I don’t like my hair falling out, and her weave was too tight…

Then the snips came… and the hair went… I was partially mortified, but masked it well by saying “Oh, wow, it’s a lot longer that I was expecting it to be! Hee-hee….” With that I stuffed that afro weave back onto my head and dashed out. When I arrived home I jumped in the shower and rubbed my hands over the inch long hairs atop my head. These were sad times people… sad times indeed. However my spirits were lifted when the conditioner on my hair gave this strange reaction – my hair, was… curly?! Dazed and confused I happily continued washing my hair. This was the point where I decided I want to see these curls/waves/imposters at their longest and strongest.
My hair mission had begun. Awwww Yeaaaaah…..

So what did I do? I went in search of advice of course. I hung out at www.longhaircareforum.com and www.blackhairmedia.com joined a few curly sites such as www.naturallycurly.com (as I was obsessed with the imposters in my head) and got into a few blogs and websites, namely www.curlynicky.com. (<- That place is the shiznit btw!)

Cosy Obsession: Revisited

Boots!

Ok, I'm clearly bored... I'm, wearing the boots I mentioned in the blog earlier, (the United Nude with the name I couldn't remember)So as promised (to myself) here is a pic.
They're woolen on the outside, i thought the material would bobble, but they've been fine in the year I've had them. The inside feels like velvety felt, and the shoe casing is leather. Very yummy indeed.

Pockets!! (Sorry for poor picture quality, crappy camera phone)

Experimentation Obsession

Self Install

Short n sweet, I made a number of attempts (2 to be exact) and doing my own weave install. They resulted in all kinds of fail. I dont know what possessed me, i dont even like wearing a weave... Below is a pic of the 2nd and final attempt. Will I try again? No. Attempt 1 lasted all of 1 week before I became frustrated with it, and the last attempt last 2 and half weeks, mostly because I was determined to keep it for 4 weeks... yeah, that didn't pan out.

I Used "Sensationnelle: Remy Goddess" in 1b.

Natural Obsession

Ma Hair!

In April I lopped off all of my relaxer and went for the 'fro. Today, 8 months on, I figured I post something about my hair journey. So to sum it up; It was short, hella short, now its longer...
Today's natural installment is the hairstyle I'm rocking. It's just a 'fro with an accessory (The belt from one of my grans dresses... The colour matched my top, DON'T JUDGE ME!)

So on to my regime: Co was every 2 - 3 days with Herbal essence "Hello Hydration" and 'poo wash with Kinky Curly "Knot Today" and condition with Elasta QP "Intensive moisturising creme" once a week. (usually on a Sunday)
Day to day styling: When it was warmer it was "wash n go" all the way, by dunking my head under the shower, then sealing in the moisture with pure Shea Butter, in the evenings I'd grease my scalp with pure coconut oil (every other night.

I had been making a leave in conditioner which consisted of; purified water, tea tree oil, peppermint oil, cedar wood, eucalyptus oil and some other oil (Cant remember which one) all shaken up in a spray bottle and lovingly doused all over my hair. It smelt yummy and my hair loves water so it was aaaallll good. But then it got cold, and wondering outside with my head soaking wet was no longer an option. Also i got lazy. I bought Aussie's "Miracle Hair Insurance Leave in Conditioner" and some Aloe Vera (had some before but was ignoring it) and my hair seems to like them. So now in the mornings, it's spritz in go. Feels good to have my hair at a length where I no longer need to use Gel for this hair style. :D

Gadget Obsession

WANT!

Okay, so a few months ago I caught word of the Bamboo by WACOM. As someone who fails at any thing creative, these are sad times for me... :( Now, it's not that I don't WANT to be creative and so on, I'm just lazy and would rather do nothing... My fella had planned these days where he would give me intense photoshop training, because I showed interest in wanting to use it (as he is a photographer and editor etc) but I think I only had one lesson, then managed to find other things to do instead. Here is the little beast in action.

So, I want to put this on my Christmas wish list, but all the questions will be the same... "why?". To be honest, I have no real reason, maybe if I feign some real and practical interest in photoshop at least, i may have a change of acquiring one.
Ah well either that, or treat myself to one after Christmas.
Saddest thing of all, I actually want to be able to need to use it, as in, I would like to be able to design my own sewing patterns etc. (Smells like motivation!)

Healthy Obsession: Men

Just because I have a man in my life, this does not been I am blind. I am still able to appreciate the beauty that is man, so this post will dwell on that.

Niki Minaj has just put out a new video displaying the gorgeous Frenchman Willy Monfret. (Yes, his name sounds ridiculous to me, but he's French) For those of you not knowing who he is (like me before i saw the video)See him in his splendor here: (As well as Niki with her hideous hair *puke*)

Nicki Minaj - Right Thru Me (Official Video) from Sinemax Brown on Vimeo.

I don't care if I'm totally alone on this one, but Eric Dane (Mark Sloan - Grey's Anatomy) is yummy too! And another Grey's Anatomy hotty. I have no idea who he is, as i have only seen up to season 5, but man this sure is in enticing me to watch more...

For me, dark hair light eyes are HAWT! Goes for sexy ladies too ie Lady Toe thumbs AKA Megan Fox. Her hotness out weighs her deformity. Or even Katy Perry. Yeh I said it.

Cosy Obsession

Winter is upon us!

I think Monday was the official "S**t me, it's cold!" day. Winter has truly taken over autumn. And with that, it's time to say goodbye to the pink Primark waterproof with cardy underneath, and hello to some real winter warmth.

So what’s on the agenda....

Earmufs (or failing that, some snazzy headphones). As I will be reintroducing my 'fro in a few weeks, hats are not so practical. Therefore earmuffs are the way forward.

Wonder if I can find those in TK Maxx...

Next a pair of cute boots, not to high but not those flat things everyone likes either, perhaps something like this...

Ok, so they are high... I will be forever obsessed with United Nude boots and shoes, I already own the Fold Hi's and the knee highs with all the pockets... have no idea what they were called as they're discontinued now. :(

Over knees socks, love ‘em, self explanatory...

And most importantly, a winter coat. I want something classic and with a hood. (And warm of course) I considered making one and just altering the dress pattern to incorporate a hood, but I’m cold and lazy... Parkers are an option... but I'd rather not.
Here is what i have in mind

Nice n downy inside. The Uniqlo staple. (And clearly a Parker…)

And why does this not have a hood!!!!!! >:| It’s perfect, minus the fact that is has no hood…

So that leaves Umbrellas!! Yes they’re troublesome and become slave to the wind, BUT I discovered Edwardian style umbrellas a while ago and never looked back! Why? Due to they’re shape, they rarely (if ever) turn inside out. Or at least mine never has… not even once!!

Well worth the £15 i paid for it, although mine suffered a horrendous drain accident and lost it’s plastic lid thingy, it hasn’t been the same since, with a 5 inch metal spike at the top… but still keeps the rain out. :)

Healthy Obsession: Music...again

Right old news, yadda, yadda, yeh I know, but I only just saw Ciara's video for "Gimmie Dat"

Would hate to be the guy tasked to keep up with Ciara...

Ciara Gimmie Dat from kardashian on Vimeo.

Healthy Obsession: Music

Jessie J performed "Price Tag" live on Later With Jools Holland last night, and I heard she rocked the house. I am sorry to say I had no idea who she was until last night, then my other half promptly told me, he had mentioned her amazingness x amount of times... oh well. He then showed me the video for "Do it like a dude". I love the song, umming on the video, but it is what it is I guess...

All in all I think is some good shit. I can see why they say she is the UKs answer to Lady Gaga, but I doubt anyone can dress "differently" these days, without being compared to Gaga. Sad times.

Mild obsession.

Twitter.

What’s with that. I made an account about a year ago and never went back, then work got a little slow so started visiting it again… next thing I knew, BAM! I’m on it almost every day. And that’s not even the worst of it, I don’t even tweet, (Well i do...but only a little...) I spend the majority of my twitter time being humoured by Simon Cowell and Luis Walsh’s banter. Oh and the “Queen’s” rather humorous ramblings…
The novelty wears off after about 3 days, but tends to come back 2 days later…
I guess there's nothing quite like twittering the days away after all…
Twitters Sucked me in...

Recent Obsession:

The JET Programme.

Yeah, I’m at it again. Maybe I like torture and suspense.
Ah well, this is me checking in before the Interviews are announced and hoping all goes well. The next major JET obsession wont be until Jan. (But in the mean time there will be mini JET obsessions – but probably nothing worth posting :P)

Last years dramas can be found here:

My JET Blog fail.

Wish me luck, and good luck to all those applying! (Especially the second timers)

Mmmmmm shoes.... *drool*

Here we are, with the first installation of my rapidly changing obsessions.

At the mo I’m feeling the shoe vibe. As it was my Birthday the other day, I decided to go shopping and pic up a few things. Being the penny pincher I am, I hardly broke the bank and only bough one pair of shoe-boots, that were only £12…

Due to this lack luster extravagance, I’m going to upload a few photos to showcase it's awesomeness!
